The paintings included in this gallery are inspired from the scripture Durga-Saptashati (Story about slaying of various demons by Goddess Durga). The Nava-Durga are the nine forms of Durga/Parvati that are described in the book. They represent different stages of Parvati's life. For example, Shailaputri represents Parvati as the daughter of mountain Himalayas, Brahmacharini represents Parvati who performed austerity in order to marry Shiva, Siddhidaatri represents Parvati as giver of Siddhis(Powers) etc. The three Great Goddesses are MahaKaLi, MahaLakshmi and MahaSaraswati that represent Kriya-Shakti (Power of action), Iccha-Shakti (Power of will) and Jnana-Shakti (Power of knowledge) respectively.
